A testimonial from the Owner of Columbia Water Gardens
I was first introduced to William Lim's products in 2002. When I purchased my home, there was a formal koi pond that needed extensive work. The filtration was outdated, the water was foul and green, and the pump on the system was a Hayward swimming pool pump. The first thing that had to go was the pump. I knew that switching out the pump would eventually pay for itself (far less energy consumption) and that I could actually achieve greater flow (koi pond pumps are designed very differently). When I shopped pumps, I compared Lim's pumps to other manufacturers, and although his cost a bit more, I chose William Lim.
Here's why:
- Attention to detail. W Lim koi pond pumps are the real deal. I am an engineer at heart and immediately saw the attention to detail that other pumps simply don't have. Little things like the exit port (where the water comes out). His isn't threaded on the inside and it also doesn't have a "step" like his competitors. The smooth area reduces friction loss and makes the pump more efficient.
- Attention to detail. There's a tiny hole on the bottom that allows water to drain out of the motor area if it gets wet during a heavy rain
- Attention to detail. The impellers a designed by him, and not reassembled from bulk. The power chords are thicker than competitors, the motors are the best in the industry.
- Attention to detail. W Lim Pumps under promise and over deliver on the flow charts. What I mean is this: Competitors rate their flow charts in a lab under perfect variables. William, on the other hand, uses 90's, and other fittings that affect flow, head pressure, and create friction loss in his lab. I know, I've been there many times. What you get with William Lim is real life flow. It is not uncommon that installations actually generate greater flow than as tested in the lab. Under promise and over deliver.
- His pumps are tough. I have had one running on my 12,000 gallon koi pond since 2002, and have replaced the seal once. It still runs like new, flows like new, and at this point has far outlived it's service life. That means that because I haven't had to replace the pump, it is now actually making me money. This is why, for a little more than the "cheap pumps" (which we sell), I still like his. I am not worried about spending 2 to three times the cost of a cheap pump due to constant replacement - his just keeps humming along.
I want you to know that my pump is in Southern California in an area that gets plenty of rain, and plenty of sunshine. Weather extremes here exceed 117 degrees in the summer and fall into single digits during the winter. The pump is not in a filter pit, and it is exposed to the weather.
I fully endorse William Pumps, his service, his kindness, and his ingenuity. You definitely get what you pay for with William Lim - quality, engineering, and value. If you have any questions, please call and ask for me personally - I would love to chat with you.
Columbia Water Gardens is manufacturer direct with William Lim's full line of products. That means no middle man, no warehouse markup - just low prices that are very hard to beat. I guarantee that. If you find anyone selling his pumps for less, and we verify that they are a legitimate business that is actually authorized to do business with W Lim Products, I will beat their price by 10%.
Make it a great day, Carl Petite, Owner Columbia Water Gardens

| The pumps come with 2 1/2" unions for IN and OUT. A 2 1/2" pipe will give you higher pressure, but the flow will slightly decrease. You must increase to 3" pipe to get 100% max flow. This will not over amp the motor; and will match the performance curve we have provided. |
